Meet Holly Likos
Mindful Life Coach
I formed Be Mind with the express intention of giving people the mental training they need to thrive in all areas of their lives. I graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with an honors degree in Psychology with an emphasis in neuroscience. In a laboratory setting, I conducted research on Learned Helplessness, the main model for human depression, and became fascinated with the lasting impact of positive thinking on the emotional center of the brain. While working on a Master's degree at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado I specialized in the study of mindfulness as a means of cultivating Emotional Intelligence, the ability to identify and manage your own emotions effectively. I have spent over 25 years practicing mindfulness meditation and yoga. I have also been running a small successful business for over seven years. As a trained clinician and a certified mindfulness teacher, I am passionate about working with others to create positive, lasting change in their lives by cultivating healthy mental habits.
Mindfulness: The Foundation of Change
With a foundation in a mindfulness practice, I will help you become more aware of your conditioned behaviors, habits, and choices in the moment. By learning how to mindfully observe your thoughts and feelings, you’ll be able to watch your old behaviors from a new perspective and consciously respond to triggers in a healthy way rather than habitually reacting to them in a way that does not serve you best.
It can also help with
Improving emotion regulation, can lead to a better mood and ability to handle stress.
Less Psychological Pain
Studies have shown that practicing mindfulness and meditation can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
The capacity to savor positive emotions and have them endure.
Practicing acts of generosity and gratitude activate circuitry in the brain that promotes happiness and general well-being.
The ability to recover more quickly from negative events.
Feel more connected to your partner, friends, family, and community.
Mindfulness in Therapy: What to Expect
Sometimes mindfulness in therapy includes concrete exercises that focus on using all of your senses to fully experience the present moment. Other times it is a particular way of staying present with your emotions as they arise in the moment. A mindfulness approach to therapy integrates kindness, non-judgment, and curiosity into whatever comes up. Staying mindful encourages you to let go of concepts or attachments to things you think you know in favor of staying with a feeling or a sensation as it arises in your body. By staying present in your experience, you go deeper into sensations and feelings for a better understanding of your true self.
Meditation work can be powerfully healing. It has the capacity to help you, not so much transform, but come to know who you have been all along and to tap into your inherent value, strength, vulnerability, and passion.
